This says "homicide rates" below, but the above image shows it mentioning "terrorists". The idiot person who made this meme knows that not every murderer is a terrorist... right? Right?!
Tell me if you have heard this before:
"The reason why miniorities have more interactions with the police is because they commit more crime."
Yeah, me too. And I have heard this argument more than I'd like to admit. The image you see above is what racists some people use to stereotype minorities and defend police brutality explain why minorities have more interactions with the police. The man you see in the photo (the bald potato) is Stefanie Manure Stefan Molyneux, a white supremacist "philosopher" who hosts a an extremely boring propaganda show podcast, who is known for his anarchist and "race realist" views. Sadly, people I know who either are misniformed or incredibly racist take things at face value do share these "stats" without properly looking into them, and trying to get the bigger picture.
I was sent this by a mutual who consistently calls "Black Lives Matter" terrorists, makes the "blacks commit more crime" talking point, and opposes riots under any circumstances. Here's what that mutual failed to notice:
Murder and robbery is where blacks lead whites, by margins of 8.9% and 10.7%.
Rape, aggravated assault, burglary, and larceny-theft is where whites lead blacks, by margins of 38.8%, 28.6%, 37.7%, 38.6%, respectively. It's also worth pointing out that his outdated statistic shows whites lead blacks 41.7% in all crimes combined, and with all minorities combined, it's still a wide margin of 37.8%. It's also worth pointing out this useless crime statistic mentions only arrests, not convictions, and it also fails to mention if the accused was convicted, or not. Assuming the crime statistic is legitimate, that doesn't excuse the police racially profiling neighborhoods, and minorities.
This is what those who use crime stats to scapegoat minorities support doing.
This easily explains what those who say "blacks commit crime more" have in their hearts.
The President of the United States has told yet another one of his "alternative facts" on crime, which of course doesn't survive the slightest fact check, and in another brazen display of shattering anti-police reform propaganda facts, here's a complete Chad guy giving the anti-BLM crowd the facts about who is gets killed more, by police.
The one obvious flaw in the out of context statistic problem with the statistic that they are incredibly outdated. The first stat is from 2014, and the second one is from 2017. The crime statistic of 2018 shows pretty much the same thing:
So far, FBI crimes stats for 2019 and 2020 have not been released. But there are many examples of crime going down, and there is evidence of blacks being murdered more than whites:
Whites lead blacks on all crimes put together by a 41.6% margin, and blacks lead whites among murder victims 54.89-45.11% (a difference of 9.78%), and all minorities lead whites among murder victims is 56.89-43.11% (a difference of 13.78%). So not only is it true that the people making the racist claim don't know how to read statistics, they also don't know what "per capita" means. Either they want to believe that the crime stats don't actually say, or they don't want to do their homework. They can't be neither, but they definitely can be both.
In conclusion, you're a racist if you take crime stats and use it to stereotype a racial group, and it shows that there are racists in law enforcement who will use that stat to justify targeting minorities.
